ICCC (Integrated Command and Control Centre)
The ICCC project is an integral part of the Smart Cities Mission in Tiruppur. The Integrated Command and Control Centre has been developed as a fully equipped and facilitated centre in the Tiruppur Corporation building in the heart of the city. The ICCC functions 24/7 to help not only citizens but also authorities monitor and manage the everyday operations of the city. The 24-hour support system will provide real-time smart solutions to enable quicker services.
Tiruppur is a densely populated city with myriad factories and employment opportunities. As a result, the migrant population is increasing year after year, making the city more vibrant and happening. So, there is a need for an integrated command and control centre to integrate the essential government services and serve as a single point control centre for all the amenities for the public. An ICCC will surely streamline various activities in the city, contribute towards the smooth functioning of various services, and safeguard the wellbeing of the general public.
Under the Smart City Initiative, the Tiruppur Smart City Limited proposed the development of an ICCC for the city of Tiruppur. The proposal was accepted, a plan was devised and the ICCC came into existence within a short period of time. Currently, the city corporation is using the ICCC for various services like water supply, complaint management, solid waste management, smart parking, surveillance, emergency response mechanisms, and real-time tracking of the different public services.
On the whole, the ICCC acts as the nerve centre for operations management in Tiruppur, handling day-to-day exception handling and disaster management. It provides the city municipal corporation with smart solutions to help manage safety and surveillance in the city.
The ICCC was established in the ground floor of the City Corporation Building, covering a carpet area of 2469 sq. ft. The control centre is facilitated with a reception, video room, war room, auxiliary support room, server room, and EB/UPS room.

- Smart poles to provide street lighting, wi-fi hotspot services, mobile broadband infrastructure, and surveillance cameras
- Smart street lights
- The emergency box or panic button
- Smart environment sensors that collect data about temperature, rains, flood levels, and pollution levels in the city on a daily basis
- Rain gauge
- City Surveillance System
- Video management systems (VMDs) at identified strategic locations
- Mobile vans and drones (if needed) used as and when the situation demands it to capture the real-time video feed of an incident
The project started on May 3, 2021, and was successfully completed on June 27, 2021.

The ICCC works 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, which is a great initiative by the government. It makes me feel more safe and secure when I’m on the road. It makes me feel that someone is observing what’s happening out there, and this will certainly make a difference. In fact, the crime rates will come down drastically, I feel.
