Description

Roof Top Solar is an important project that has been successfully developed under the Smart City Mission. Rooftop solar panels have been successfully installed in many schools and government/local body buildings in the city of Tiruppur.

Tiruppur is home to many factories, which means there is always a high demand for energy. With more and more startups being established and the population increasing faster than ever before, there was a considerable electricity deficit in the city. There was a dire need for additional sources of power or electricity in the city.

Besides the above-stated reasons, there are several other reasons why Tiruppur Smart City Limited considered the installation of rooftop solar panels in various government buildings in the city. Rooftop solar panels don’t use any kind of fuel to generate electricity, and so no harmful gases are emitted. Hence, it poses less pollution risks to the environment when compared to conventional sources of energy.

Being a green source of energy, these panels reduce carbon footprints and are highly suitable for the Indian climate. What’s more, they are cheaper than the other energy sources. For these reasons, TSCL decided to propose the roof top solar project under the Smart City Mission.

After following the required protocol, TSCL planned and installed rooftop solar panels in 81 locations (303 kWp) of the city, including schools and government/local body buildings. In fact, they completed this smart city project in a short period of time.

The total investment made in the project is Rs. 2.34 crore.

சூரிய மேல் கூரை (roof top solar) ஒரு முக்கியமான திட்டமாகும். இது ஸ்மார்ட் சிட்டி மிஷனின் கீழ் வெற்றிகரமாக உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. திருப்பூர் நகரில் பல பள்ளிகள் மற்றும் அரசு/உள்ளாட்சி அமைப்பு கட்டிடங்களில் சோலார் கூரை பேனல்கள் வெற்றிகரமாக நிறுவப்பட்டுள்ளன.
